Book Signing by Modeste Downes & Dr. Anderson Reynolds

Award-Winning Novelist, Anderson Reynolds, and Award-Winning Poet, Modeste Downes, are pleased to invite you to their book signing this Saturday 15 December, 9AM4PM, at Choc, Castries, next to Rituals at the Caribbean Cinemas strip.

The authors’ books are part of a growing body of Vieux Fort literature that is among the best of what the island has to offer. As such their books would make excellent Christmas gifts. Please drop by to chat with the authors and get autographed copies of their books.

Modeste Downes, recipient of the inaugural (2004) George Odlum Prize for creative artist, has two collection of poetry under his belt. Namely Phases and Theatre of The Mind. Phases was the winner of the 2005 M&C main prize for literature, and Theatre of the Mind was the winner of the 2013 CDF National Arts Award for poetry.

Dr. Anderson Reynolds is the author of three books. The Stall Keeper, a novel set in Vieux Fort using the American World War II occupation of the town as backdrop. The Struggle for Survival: an historical, political and socioeconomic perspective of St. Lucia, which provides a slice of St. Lucian history. And Death by Fire, a novel set largely in Castries, that traces the lives of two boys of single parents as they engage in a life of escalating crime. All three of Dr. Reynolds’ books have won national literature awards.

Next year, Modeste Downes will be launching his third collection of poetry, Lessons On Wings, and Dr. Reynolds will be releasing his fourth book, My Father Is No Longer There, a memoir sparked by his father’s untimely death.
