A Dr. Reynolds Los Angeles Special

As a continuation of Dr. Anderson Reynolds international book tour of the Stall Keeper which began last year when the award-winning author visited four countries (including St. Lucia) and nine cities (including Castries, Vieux Fort, and Soufriere), the St. Lucian diaspora in Los Angeles hosted a book reading and signing for the author On Sunday 21 October 2018.

The event took place in a backyard lawn of the quiet neighborhood of Bellflower, Los Angeles, California, surrounded by a flower garden and a mini orchard both fittingly hinting of a Caribbean setting. Unlike the 90 degrees plus heat of the previous two days, nature joined the audience in playing its part in making the event a success with a gentle air-condition breeze that reminded one that Los Angeles too suffers from winter.

As with the author’s previous stops, he was taken aback of the appreciativeness of the audience, and how proud and impressed they were of a fellow St. Lucian who was writing books and embarking on international book tours. As an indication of the audience’s gratitude every adult in the audience bought at least one book and in addition several made monetary donations.

Dr. Reynolds said he was very encouraged to continue writing books on St. Lucia and the Caribbean and embarking on international book tours that take St. Lucian and Caribbean culture to the Caribbean diaspora and the world. He said it was lots of fun and very exciting to meet and mingle with family members and other St. Lucians in the diaspora, so much so that the tours feel like vacations.

On Thursday Dr. Reynolds will flew to New York where he will be celebrating Jounen Kweyol Day with the St. Lucian diaspora in New York with a book signing at the St. Lucia House in Brooklyn from 11 AM on Sunday 28 October.

In terms of future plans, the author has served notice that with the publication of his fourth book, My Father is No longer There in 2019, he will be embarking on another international tour.

The author would like to thank the audience including friends, fellow St. Lucians, and family (particularly Anna Franis, and Theodora and McEchrane Reynolds) for helping to make the event a success and for their unreserved support and encouragement.
