Dr. Reynolds, who is in the middle of his international book tour, will be making three book signing appearances in Brooklyn, New York, over the weekend. The first stop is at 3PM on Saturday 28 October at the St. Lucian American Progressive Association Jounen Kweyol event (1136 St Mark’s Place, between Utica & Schnectady Avenues). The second stop is at 10AM, Sunday 29 October at the St. Lucia Cultural Organization Church Service and Brunch (563 Sterling Place). And the third and final New York stop is at 3PM Sunday 29 October, at the St. Lucia House Foundation Jounen Kweyol Day (438 E 49 Street, between Church & Snyder Avenues).

Dr. Reynolds is pleased to announce that half of the proceeds from book sales generated from the St. Lucia House Foundation Jounen Kweyol Day book signing will be donated to the Dominica relief effort.

New York represents the third city stop on Dr. Reynolds book tour. His first stop was at A Different Booklist in Toronto on October 17. His second stop was in Atlanta at the St. Lucia Association of Georgia Jounen Kweyol celebrations on October 21. Following his New York stops, the author will be making a stop in Washington DC at 3PM, Saturday 4 November at the St. Lucia Association of Washington D.C Jounen Kweyol celebrations (Adelphi Mill, 8402 Riggs Rd, Adelphi, MD 20783). Next the author changes continent for a book reading and signing in London on Thursday 9 November at the St. Lucia High Commission in London (1 Collingham Gardens, London, SW5 0HW), hosted by the Unity of UK St. Lucian Associations and the High Commission. London was supposed to be the final stop of the tour, however, fans at Hartford, Connecticut, have requested that the author pay them a visit, so following London, Dr. Reynolds will conduct a book reading and signing in Hartford, third week of November, at a venue and time to be arranged.

On this tour, Dr. Reynolds is focusing on his recently published third book, The Stall Keeper, a novel set in Vieux Fort using the American World War II occupation of the town as backdrop. The Stall keeper, winner of the national arts award for prose, seeks to characterize Vieux Fort, give a sense of the forces that have shaped the town, and an indication of why the town is the way it is.

As such The Stall Keeper has garnered much praise from critics and fans alike. For example, CARICOM economist and diplomat, Peter Lansiquot, said: The Stall Keeper should be read by every Saint Lucian man, woman, child and professor of literature! … This delectable bowl of hot, steaming Lucian bouillon, spiced up with canelles and calaloo … crafted by the most articulately exciting Lucian craftsman of the written word I have met to date, takes Vieux Fort by the neck and shakes it vigorously, releasing into the breezy Iyanolan atmosphere all of Vieux Fort’s idiosyncrasies … made me laugh, giggle, ponderous, sad and glad, all at once … made me immensely proud to be Lucian!”

Born and raised in Vieux Fort, St. Lucia, Anderson Reynolds holds a Ph.D. in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida.  In recent years, Dr. Reynolds has emerged as one of St. Lucia’s most prominent and prolific writers. His first book, the novel, Death by Fire, won the 2001 M&C main award for literature. His second, The Struggle for Survival: an historical, political and socioeconomic perspective of St. Lucia, won a 2003 M&C prize for prose. An earlier unpublished version of The Stall Keeper won the 2012 National Arts Award for prose.  The author’s featured articles in St. Lucian magazines and newspapers won him a 2001 M&C literature award for creative journalism, and similarly a 2006 National Arts Award. The Stall Keeper along with Dr. Reynolds’ journalistic pieces on Vieux Fort have established him as one of the island’s foremost authority on Vieux Fort’s   socioeconomic history.
