In anticipation of the release of its debut album, What People Say, the Phases Band is already embarking on an island-wide tour. On Friday, June 28, the band will be the headline act at Festen Labowi, in the village of Laborie, and the following day, Saturday 29 June, Phases will be one of the featured acts at the Vieux Fort Burning Flame concert. And Friday 02 August, the band will serve as the anchor act at the Reggae Explosion show at Palm Valley, Grande Riviere, Dennery, where besides performing its originals and covers the band will back up several iconic St. Lucian artists, including Itoobaa, Meshach, King Hephzibah, and Aschadan.
Based in Vieux Fort and managed by Jako Productions, Phases is a five-piece band with three lead singers (all of whom play instruments) that plays most genres of popular music. What People Say will include soca, reggae, R&B, Latin, folk, bouyon, and zouk, thus reflecting the band’s eclectic repertoire and musical orientation.
Besides anticipating its album release, the Phases tour is part of an initiative by Cedar Productionz and Jako Productions to host musical shows around the island as a means of nurturing and giving St. Lucian artists and musicians greater national exposure, and rekindling the public’s passion for live entertainment.
The events will involve one or two bands performing their own musical sets and backing up several individual artists. Some of the events will also include fashion shows and dance groups.
Founded in 2009, Cedar Productionz is a music label and production house that specializes in dancehall, reggae and pop music.
Two decades running, Jako Productions is a cultural and entertainment enterprise that seeks to encourage the artistic expression of St. Lucian culture and to promote that culture worldwide.
